Crippen

“Crippen” by John Boyne tells the story of Dr Hawley Harvey Crippen from birth to his execution for the murder of his wife Cora.

The book is a novel, so it gives an interesting take on the man, and the crime.

“Crippen” is well written and well researched. The only problem I had with it is the non-linear structure of the narrative. The chapters went backwards and forwards in time. I dislike this format, but that is on me, it is not a reflection on the author. The story is absorbing and the characters well rounded and believable.

John Boyne has a dry sense of humour that quite literally had me laughing out loud at times.

“Crippen” is well worth a read.
